It’s hard to choose which the best dive destinations so far for me.
Since Indonesia is becoming a famous diving destination, so many places in this country been explored.
Beautiful corals and reef, stunning visibilty, big school of fish, critters, current and amazing landscape that’s all you want to dive with right.
So I’ll try to list 5 of them based on my experience. Let’s check them out…
1. MISOOL (Southern of Raja Ampat)
I went to Misool few times.
Last time I went there on February 2018. This dive destination is absoulutely stunning!
Incredible sea mountain (Magic Mountain) with tons of pelagics and critters ( you also can spot Oceanic Manta here) was my highlight.
Don’t forget about Farondi Cave, Boo Window and Tank Rock!!
Also I love Four Kings and Puri Pinnacle so much!!
2. KOMODO
I was becoming a freelance dive guide here and did some trip to this place too.
If I should choose for “not boring” dive destination, I’ll choose Komodo!
I love to dive in the seamount for pelagics (like mantas, rays and sharks), drif dive, beautiful wall, muck dive for critters. So, Komodo is the place!
Of course, everyone will choose Batu Bolong, Crystal Rock and Castle rock. on their list.
Also, you need to jump at Cauldron/Shotgun!!!
But my favorite dive site is Tatawa Kecil! Why?? You need to dive there to get the answer.
3. DAMPIER STRAIT (Raja Ampat)
As you can’t cover all of the area in a trip. So I put Raja Ampat to two.
Central Raja Ampat is the easiest dive destination if you want to dive in Raja Ampat.
Again, you could see everything in here too. Mantas, Wobegong, Sharks, Pygmy Seahorse and many more.
I did dive at Cape Kri last time, I saw everything! Like Eagle Ray, Mantas, Shakrs, school of Great Barracuda, Wobegong, (again) pygmy seahorse, Ghost Pipefish. In a dive!
But still, you need to dive at Blue Magic! The most favorite place in Central Raja Ampat!
4. Alor
What I remember of this place is the thopography of the dive sites and the visibility!
In right season, it could be 30-40 meter visibility!
The coral reefs are amazing here, since Alor known as a place with a lots of current.
That thing affected reef condition around Alor.
I did some cave dive, muck dive in Kalabahi Bay (found Rhinophias here) , also a lots of wall dives and drift dives!
5. NUSA PENIDA (Bali)
I used to work in this dive destination for 3 years. I loved it so much!
It just 30 minutes by speedboat from Bali but people usually staying in Nusa Lembongan.
What you can see here?
Manta all year! And of course, Mola-Mola (Ocean Sunfish) in August-October.
Divers all around the world come to this dive destination to encounter with those big stuff.
Don’t forget about corals at Mangrove Point and challanging dive at Blue Corner!
